This is the newest addition to our organic Sencha collection. Asanoka is a type of cultivar that is not commonly produced.  It is the selective breeding of Yabukita and a Chinese tea cultivar. This Sencha tea cultivar has a unique floral, very delightful fragrance.

Prepare to be indulged by the robust and smooth taste of our Asanoka. The lovely yellow color with subtle green tints on the dried green tea leaves is just a prelude to the great umami it offers.  This unique and rare tea is a must-try for those who seek satisfaction in every sip.

This is a fine example of loose-leaf green tea from Kagoshima with the twist of a rare cultivar.

Very Impressed

I have not had this cultivar before. I am very impressed. To begin with, it is a fukamushi, with an inviting color, a lovely yellow with subtle green tints. As soon as the water hits the leaves the aroma of fresh, young spinach rises immediately to the nose. Delightful! The flavor is robust and smooth, with a hint of corn I would say. I enjoyed this tea very much. If you do not over-cook the first steep, holding the temperature to 158F or so, the second steep will be a flavorful, satisfying one. I used 163F for the second steep. A third steep is possible, and has no off-flavors, but is fairly weak. I will be buying this excellent tea with my next order.
